Thanks for supporting our Association of Camp Nurses Annual Symposium, once again. The buji Wash Go Go packs that you sent were a useful addition to our Goodie Bags. I used my sample of Go Go Wash while on a backpacking trip last week. (As you can imagine...I have no Poison Ivy rash as a result :-)!) I personally encourage use of Jewel Weed, but that doesn't grow everywhere that Poison Ivy does, so it's a great item to include in the first aid kits that will accompany our staff and campers on river trips and hikes where PI grows abundantly.

Sincerely,

Lucy Pryor

“It is my goal to get büji in as many hands as possible. Poison ivy exposure can be and usually is extremely painful and debilitating. The more people that know about your products, the safer we all are. Thank you very much.”

--Anne Keller, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission

“Your product, büji Poison Ivy wash, has been a major addition to the tools we use at our tree farm. It is by far the best product for Poison Ivy we have ever used and we highly recommend it to all outdoorsmen and Christmas tree growers. We also keep it on hand during the Christmas season for those who come in contact with poison ivy while cutting their tree.  ……
My employees have not had poison ivy since we started using your product.  As you can see from the photo I sent, we have poison ivy growing in our Christmas trees and one of the main jobs during the summer is to pull all poison ivy out of the trees.

Thank you for introducing us to this great product!”

Dr. Christopher Thurber product endorsement:

“Sure, you can teach campers to identify poison ivy and poison oak. But do you think they are watching where they step as they sprint through the woods during a game of Capture the Flag? Of course not, which is why büji® products have become so popular at camps. büji Block® is an ingenious product that combines protection against poison ivy/oak with an SPF 24 sunscreen. It's what I put on my own two boys before we go hiking and it should be in every camper's trunk. Coupled with büji Wash®, a post-exposure cleanser that removes the plants' oils anytime after exposure of breakout for fast relief, you've got a total system for enjoying the outdoors.”

Association of Camp Nurses:

Product Review Team Finds Mixed Results
Holly Bauer, RN, BSN www.ACA.org

The Product Review Team (PRT) made health lodge life a bit more interesting this summer at five camps. Lynda Lankford, Susan Baird, Camp Olson YMCA nursing staff, Nancy Evans, and Doris Nerderman spent time putting five products under scrutiny during the 2005 summer months.
The intent of the review process is to provide information that may help camp nurses make appropriate supply choices for their next camping season. Some products are hot off the press, while others have been around for a while and have never been put to the test. The testing of products in the camp setting involves analyzing a variety of factors about each product:

Packaging
Appropriateness for the camp setting
Aesthetic appeal
Cost
Health risk involved in usage
Accuracy and clarity of instructions.

The team was also asked to assess whether the product was better than the current product in use and to indicate whether they would consider using this product in the future.

büji Wash Go Go Pack:
This product is intended to minimize an allergic reaction to urishiol, the toxic oil in poison ivy, oak, sumac, and related plants. “Far better than anything else to relieve the itch,” reports one nurse. The consensus was that these packets would be great for trips, but there was a concern about using them in a remote area with little (or no) water supply, as well as a concern regarding its biodegradability. It was thought that if this product were to be stocked in the health center that there should be more packets/ container (six was the suggestion). The instructions are very clear, which makes it appropriate for untrained staff and campers. The product is also cheaper than the Zanfel, product we tested last year. The cost for four packets is $3.95. The PRT hopes that this product will be stocked by major nursing supply companies to make purchasing easier for next year’s stock (avoiding extra shipping charges).

büji Block Poison Ivy/Oak Barrier Cream:
This product can be used both as a sunscreen as well as a barrier to protect skin from urishiol exposure. This product is pricey ($14.95/bottle), but received better than average reviews in all categories. There was a concern about it only having an SPF of 15. A nurse recommended that the product change its sunscreen element to a more protective factor. Teens are often reluctant to use sunscreen, but with the added incentive of poison ivy protection, they were much more responsive. It was found to be helpful on mountain biking trips (through tall grasses). One nurse commented that the first trip went out and came back covered in poison ivy. She had the second crew apply the barrier cream, and no campers had a poison ivy reaction. Other camps found the product’s efficacy difficult to assess due to the fact that the cream was applied and no poison ivy rash occurred; however, there was still the question regarding if the camper had actually been exposed to the oil. Again, there was interest in stocking this product next year, but the hope was that it would be available in large health care companies for ordering ease.

“The Poison ivy has finally reared its head here.  Curiously it seems to be flourishing around the outskirts of our parking lot!   I used it [büji] on my son after he was exposed on a school field trip and it worked great.  The patients that we have given samples to have loved it as well.  There is no Rite Aid close to us so offering it to patients has been helpful and has cut down on the amount of oral steroids we have to give people. ……I know we’d fly through the stuff…..I think the product is fantastic and much needed.  Patients are skeptical at first but use it on our recommendation and are impressed with the results.”

“Desperate for relief from my poison ivy but unwilling to invest a fortune in one of the new scrubs, I spotted your buji wash Go Go paks at CVS. What a miracle! You are very wise to offer these small packs so folks like me will give your product a try. It really works!”
~ Maura K, Washington, DC

“Your product does exactly what you say it will do. After I had gotten poison ivy on my arms for the first time i tried several products that said their product would relieve itching. Well they did not and I endured the temptation to scratch until I was about to go crazy. Then one day I came across your product on the internet and after reading all the testimonies I decided i would try it. It was instant relief and the relief was for hours. I used it the first evening and again before I went to bed. The next morning my arms looked a lot better and now they are well on their way to healing. Thank you so much.”
~ Jimmy Gibson, London KY

"I am the asst manager at the Lazy W Ranch in San Juan Capistrano Ca. We have had a bumper crop of poison oak this year. I had never had an outbreak before 6 months ago. I had a major rash on both of my forearms. I went to Rite Aide and found your büji Wash. My poison oak cleared up within 48 hours! It was amazing. I had another exposure about 6 weeks ago, both my forearms and both sides of my rib cage. Once again I went to Rite Aide but instead of büji, I bought Tecnu Scrub. Well the more I used the Tecnu the more I spread the poison oak. After two days of agony, I went and got büji again. This time büji cleared the poison oak within 24 hours. Since this last incident I have been using büji Block, and the wash. I have been cutting poison oak with a weed eater for fire clearance, and even though I have been covered with chopped up poison oak leaves and vines and roots, I have not had another outbreak. Your products are amazing, and I have been telling everyone that would listen about büji Wash, and Block. Thank you.”
~ Richard, CA

“wow! what an excellent product. Washed with büji Wash and it stop the itching right away. Wish I would have found this product a few days ago.”
~ Marlon, MD

“I recently contracted a severe case of poison oak. I've been highly allergic all my life. This was my first bad case in over 25 years. I was suffering for about 2 weeks, despite anti-biotics and steroids. Finally, after trying every home remedy and over the counter product we'd heard of my wife brought home a tube of büji Wash. At that time I still had several areas effected and did a "test" on the two worst ones. After one wash, both areas quit itching and immediate I experienced reduced swelling. After a few hours I took another shower scrubbing everywhere with büji Wash. Within 12 hours my poison oak was well on the way to disappearing. My house will never again be without büji Wash! Thank you!”
~ Bob, California

“Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I am an avid mountain biker, hiker, father of two outdoors loving girls, and husband to a very poison oak sensitive wife. We use the block and wash with great success, and for whatever reason (and I don't really care either), your products work better than Technu and as well as Zanfel (for a much lower cost) as a wash, and better than Ivy Block for the pre-activity prep. Where we live there is no avoiding poison oak unless you stay on pavement, and obviously that isn't an option.
If you could only come up with a block that was sunscreen, urushoil protectant, AND magically killed poison oak when it rubs against me, I'd use it by the gallon! Perhaps someone should look into hiring some product specialists from Roundup? I'm kidding... sort of.
Thanks again”
~ Troy, CA

"I'd just like to say how great your product has worked for me. I received some free samples of your product in my registration packet when I attended Geowookstock IV in Texas over the Memorial Day weekend. Boy was it ever a lifesaver (or at least an arm and leg saver)! I've never seen poison ivy as huge as what I saw in Texas but thanks to the büji® Wash I came away from Geowoodstock IV with only fond memories instead of a bad case of posion ivy. I now carry büji® Wash in my backpack when I hit the woods for geocaching, hiking or camping. While geocaching on vacation in Indiana this summer, I was happy to have a some büji ® Wash in my pack after my wife pointed out that while watching the GPS instead of the ground, I had just waded through a knee deep patch of posion ivy (in shorts). Again I'm happy to report that thanks to the büji® Wash I came through it with out even a hint of poison ivy. Thanks, Kevin "

"I Was playing a cache game a week a go and there was a cache right in the middle of a poison ivy patch, So I put on büji block! Jumped right in and got the cache, then I used the wash, And I have no signs of the bad old weed. But a good friend of mine did not use büji at all now he has poison ivy on his hands and arms so I'm convinced it works."
~ Ed S., Geocacher

"My 6 year old son was polluted with poison ivy on his face, arms and legs. He was solid pink from all of the calamine lotion that was on him and still he was ichy. The relief was amazing after just 1 shower with büji Wash. I would recommend this product to anyone. I won't be without it in my home."
~ Theresa J, Boston, MA

"Büji Block is AWESOME. My boyfriend and I went hiking yesterday and he got covered with ticks. I, however, had put on büji because I am very sensitive to poison ivy. I did not have one tick on me except for my sock. Would you believe he put it on and there were no more ticks! We sat down for a break and took our shoes off. An ant started crawling on his foot and would not crawl on the büji Block. We will NEVER go hiking without our büji Block again. PLEASE get Walgreens to stock your product!!!!"
~ Dana T., Florrissant, MO

“I got some WASH on the way home today (Wednesday), having contacted some sort of ivy last Sunday. I tried other products and the results were short-lived. Tonight I tried the WASH and it is unbelievable  Although expensive compared to other solutions, it is worth every cent. I am converted. I will try BLOCK at the next opportunity. Thanks for a great product. “

“For the past year, my family has been having to deal with almost constant exposure to poison oak. We live high on a hill with beautiful views, wonderful animals (horses, dairy goats, dogs, cats, chickens, pigs, etc. and a TON of poison oak. No matter how careful we are, there always seems to be an animal that has traipsed through it somehow and then transfers it to us. Unfortunately, my youngest son is highly allergic to poison oak and when exposed, typically has to go in for steroid shots and prescription medication. Unfortunately, even those medications still left him miserable, so we are always trying new (and extremely expensive) over the counter "remedies" to speed the healing process along. None of which really worked until we came across büji. At first my son was reluctant, trying to get me to buy the $30 product instead of büji. But I read the label and liked the idea that you could use it ANYTIME after exposure, not being limited to within a few hours of exposure. (and since I too had poison oak, and had no idea when I had been exposed, I wanted to try büji for me!) So, we purchased it and though my son didn't say anything, I sure noticed a difference the first night. He actually slept through the night! Usually, he would have to get up at least once a night and re-apply what ever product we were using, just to get some rest. But he slept through the night and so did I! What a gift. Now, at the first sign of exposure, my son runs for the büji and for the past few months since we discovered this product, he has yet to have to go to the doctors for the steroid shots! As I sit here at work, I noticed that I apparently was exposed to poison oak somewhere along my run last night (or it could have been the neighbors cat that came to say hi:). I called my son, to tell him i have poison oak and the first thing out of his mouth is "you need büji". Yes I do, and we are sooooo glad that you have developed a product actually does what it promises! Now if I just had a tube at work....”
~ Kym, Santa Ynez, CA

“I just want to thank you so much for your wash product. I am 51 years old & for the past 3 years I have gotten poison ivy. I know what it looks like & I spray the ivy with killer, & I do kill it off. But I manage to always end up with it throughout the summer. I tried your product after my second bout with poison ivy & I was amazed at the instant relief. Thank you so much. I'm now using it on my third bout & I hardly know I have poison ivy. You guys are great, again thank you !”
~ Berni, OH

"I received a sample through Midwest Geobash. ...Came home from a day of caching to find reddened areas around my ankles. Had seen poison ivy so it was possible I'd gotten into some. Used the büji Wash and had NO itching, no blisters, the redness was GONE within three days. So if it was poison ivy, the büji sure took care of it!"
~ Mary, MI

“Thank you büji for creating a wash that really works for relieving my poison ivy! Since I was a little girl, I get a poison ivy rash every summer. This summer, I did it again but it was worse since I don’t remember when I picked it up and it started on my finger tips. It didn’t take long to spread to my arms and legs. As soon as I realized that I had poison ivy, I went to my poison ivy arsenal in my medicine cabinet to look for my strongest potion to relieve and stop the itch. Either nothing I had worked or I couldn’t remember what I used before. I literally ran over to Rite Aid, picked up your wash and raced home to use it.  Immediately, I noticed that the wash offered a gentle exfoliating scrub which relieved my itch and then the rash began to dry up   I would say that the rash lasted half as long as usual and it wasn’t as irritating as in the past! Thanks so much again. Now my poison ivy arsenal is fully stocked with your wash—and block!
~ Aggie, MD

“I tried your product a few days after exposure, since i wasn't sure @ first if it was poison ivy or oak. I usually have to take Prednisone for bad reactions. So far büji wash is keeping the reaction from progressing! Thank You! Nothing else has ever worked besides steroids.”
~ Pat, NY

“I am one that usually suffers severe allergic rash from PI. I came in contact with some last Saturday when checking on a geocache and by Sunday afternoon had a bad rash on my arm. I used the büji Wash and the rash stopped "spreading". Also, the itching seemed to be relieved. One more application should completely dry all of the rash and I can get back to geocaching.”
~ Phillip, TN

“I read an article about your products in the Detroit Free Press newspaper. That same day I went and purchased the büji Wash® for my son who was suffering from poison ivy for over a month. Within one week of using the büji Wash® (2x/day) his poison ivy was gone! I had previously taken him to his doctor who prescribed steroids (which did not work and we did not like the side affects) and hydrocortisone cream without doing anything for his skin condition  Next spring we will have the cream you apply before getting poison ivy and the wash as well. Thank you so much.”
~ Jodi S., MI

“...my husband got into poison oak in his work a couple times this summer.  He is a guy that really gets it bad.  The first time he got a few little itchies on his knee, and I coaxed him into using a bit of my büji sample on it.  He only washed it once, and he still got a light case of poison oak (but then, I have never seen him have a light case before).  The next time, he knew he had been around it, but thought he had stayed out of it - however he had the tell-tale itch at the end of that same work day - on his upper arm, and he had been wearing a long sleeved shirt. (How does he do that?)  He washed once then, and once more before bedtime, and again the next day.  He got a few red spots, but they never blistered.  Pretty amazing.
I got into some too this summer and was careless about cleaning off afterward, so I got the itchies a couple days later while I was out working.  Then I remembered that I was carrying my geocaching pack around with my lunch, and I used half of one of the little samples right then.  It quit itching right away, but a few hours later it started to itch again, so I used the other half of the little packet.  Then I washed after I got home that evening, and I never had any more sign of it.  Got to say that's the best stuff I have ever used on it.  Blessings, Hoo T. Owl  (Ruth Smith)”

“I love living in the country, except for three things: ticks, yellowjackets/hornets, and Poison oak. If I know I'm going to be working outdoors, I use the büji Block, which works well. However, I sometimes find myself covered with the oozing, itchy rash, without even. knowing where it came from, and that's when I break out the büji wash One good scrub, and the itching is gone.  Most of the time, it takes care of it completely.”
~ Allie, OR

“I can honestly say I believe büji helped keep me “itch” free this last summer and hope we will have the opportunity to let others experience it for them selves.”
~ Monique, (geocachers)

“I know that one of the drawbacks from caching in the spring and summer is poison ivy and oak and your product will make the sport a whole lot more comfortable.”
– cachers, IL

“learned about buji at Geowoodstock4 and used the samples provided. Well at Geowoodstock 5 got poison ivy again and thanks to the ample pack in our registration pack we are able get some relief from the palnt that seems to inhabit the areas that caches are hidden. We have become believers in your product, Thanks a bunch."
~ Kevin, geocacher

"Well both my husband and I have used your "wash" to deal with poison ivy recently and I must say I am impressed. Certainly helped with the itching. Thanks again!"
